On the point that conservationists need to produce scientifically valid
data to support their arguments that a certain development should not
proceed. This is very unfair as the developers are under no obligation to
scientifically prove that their activities will result in all the jobs and
all the prosperity they promise.

It's a pity that someone can't come up with a birding records database,
which with a few keystrokes can produce a fictitious, but plausible, series
of records of sightings of rare birds for any tract of land in Australia.
This would save a good deal of everyone's time.
