Just received my copy of "A Guide To Bird Habitats in NSW" by Richard Cooper and Ian McAllan of the NSW Bird Atlassers. It provides an excellent description and clear photographs of all the birds habitats that you are likely to encounter throughout NSW. It describes all the habitats from Offshore waters, off Continental shelf and Urban areas to Sub-tropical Rainforest and Spinifex plains. It goes into detail on the difference between tall mallee (>3 metres) and short mallee (<3metres) and the various types of woodlands (eg) Box, Ironbark, Wilga, Casuarina etc. This book will no doubt be an invaluable aid in helping to identify the habitats in which you see your birds.  In addition it lists typical examples of birds for each habitat.

For both Richard and Ian, a job well done and well worth the wait!!!
