Hello or G'day all,
I'll let the ideas for festivities stay open for another week in fact
it will close on Thursday 1 st., July 1999.
Our most revered and esteemed leader Mr. Hugo Phillips,
excuse me whilst I put my tongue back in place, is in favor of holding
a special Birds Australia day/week in conjunction with many other
activities that are being planned as I type. Considering the importance
of so many upcoming dates we are still holding discussions re: the
exact date or dates to be used. But yes it will happen.
The plan is this :
1.) To sell raffle tickets, to raise funds for creating the "Galah
Ball" tickets, and for festivities for the night, should it be it an
indoor or an outdoor occasion ?. I nearly fainted when four printers
gave me their quotes for the "Galah Ball" ticket cost !!!!!! looked
overseas and got a very good quote from the USA. Hope this stirs up
someone here in Oz ????
2.) Used my resources to scrounge borrow beg or steal some very nice
birding books ! From UK, USA, AUSTRALIA,
and NEW ZEALAND as prizes for the raffle ticket draw.
Along with this I have been pledged some other very nice glassware
gifts, and a few more items that would interest Mr. & Mrs. A. V. erage
bird watcher. Hope to get a bit more help from some local big Oz
companies?
Have written to Ziggy Kawolski ( KODAK ) and some heads of binocular
manufacturing companies.
3.) Have made some tentative moves to hiring a hall and using a board
of works facility, for the events.
4.) I think many at the 3MP Radio station want to know more as does the
ABC. I will let my friends at Seven and nine know more, when more
arrangements are made.
5.) Our Leader suggests Febuary ? could I have some feedback on that
month to use as the Birds Australia
Festival and celebration month ?????
6.) Some ideas have been put to me re: the internal layout if we do go
for an inside ball. I would like a few more ideas please ?
7.) I see no need to make this an only for Victoria Event ? if anyone
wants what I have to run with one in each state then terrific just
email Hugo Phillips then get back to me.
8.) Food would be catered for but I think we should aim for a BYOG
occasion due to cost and preference of alcohol plus no responsibility
held for intoxication.
9.) I can get some local bands and a big brass band at a very
reasonable cost ( extemely so ) as I break Mac's arm here.
10.) If you have something you would like to see on the night or during
that week then let me know and I'll do my best to accomodate as best as
possible.
Thank you,
John A. Gamblin
