Rachelle, It is good of you to take the effort to notice these things. You wrote your teacher said that she "saw a Red Wattlebird once with its wattles enlarged to the size of a 10c piece, not fully inflated but 2/3". Well, I suspect some exaggeration or I doubt it. Yes, they do inflate the wattles a little bit but hardly the size of a 10 cents. I suggest the size of a long grain of rice or slightly bigger would probably be typical. Secondly, how would someone know it was inflated 2/3, unless they at another time saw it fully inflated to compare it with. If so why would a 2/3 effort be notable? -----Original Message----- From: Rachelle Levingston <> To: <> Date: Wednesday, 16 June 1999 18:26 Subject: birding-aus Red wattlebirds To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
