Just to add to Alan Morris's informative comments about Pacific Gull -
there was also a record of one bird at Seal Rocks (coastal village somewhat
north of Newcastle) in June 1994. (Alan - details are in HBOC's 1994 Bird
Report).

| Hi Birders,
| Bette Mitchell has inferred that there are some concerns that the number
of
| Kelp Gulls are increasing in Victoria and other people have indicated
that
| this fact may have a detrimental influence on the number of Pacific Gulls
| overall. In New South Wales, since the NSWFOC have been producing their
| Annual Bird Report from 1970 onwards, there has been an increasing number
of
| Pacific Gulls seen here. In 1995, there more observations of Pacific
Gulls
| than ever before and they were seen at 11 sites from Eden to Botany Bay,
| while in 1997 one was seen for the firt time at Newcastle.
