In the outskirts of Brisbane there are Rainbow Lorikeets in good numbers particularly in the evening at their popular roost sites. There seems to be less Scaly-breasted about, perhaps these are less aggressive, do not flock so readily or are being pushed out. If Scaly-breasted are being pushed out, would this make Rainbows feral. Another question, will the large numbers remain if suitable nesting trees are removed from our growing suburbs. It would be nice to know the age of birds in these large flocks and how many breeding pairs produce young each year.
