LITTLE WATTLEBIRD: Seems to be more common than usual with several reports
from throughout the mountains.
YELLOW-FACED HONEYEATER: Migrating flocks have been noted throughout the
mountains, but several observers have commented that numbers this year are
much smaller than usual. I will post a separate message on this soon.
WHITE-NAPED HONEYEATER: Migrating through Katoomba from 12/4; surprisingly
only reported by 3 other observers, at Lapstone, Springwood and Blackheath.
ROSE ROBIN: Have moved out of the gullies and are on migration with several
seen in gardens from Springwood to Hazelbrook.
RUFOUS WHISTLER: Last seen at Katoomba on 8/4; Glenbrook on 9/4.
BLACK-FACED MONARCH: Last seen immature at Woodford on 5/4.
LEADEN FLYCATCHER: Last seen at Woodford on 8/4.
SILVEREYE: Very large numbers moving through Katoomba on 13/4. Subspecies
lateralis from Tasmania is now present.
N.B. There were no April reports of White-throated Needletails in the area
(normally we get a few passing through).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding the SPOTTED BOWERBIRDS reported from Valley Heights in January
this year: The Vetting Committee have decided NOT TO ACCEPT the record on
the available evidence. However the possibility has not been ruled out and a
further sighting may confirm their presence. Everyone in the area is still
keeping their eyes open.
