Yesterday 3-5 Swift Parrots were seen briefly flying low and about Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside (beside Knox Rd and about 50km west of the city). As I was only there to meet a few relatives and not for birding, I couldn't estimate the toal number present and possibly heard more. As I will be tied up with other commitments over the next couple of weeks, It would be good if anybody passing through, to investigate this area. For those who don't know their call, its usually a sharp "Pink, pink,pink.." call in flight but make a muffled warbling like sound while feeding (if that's the best way to describe it). They were present here a few years ago and there currently some Eucalypts in flower within the reserve but they may also be feeding on lerps.
