Hi everyone,
Here's a follow-up to Trevor's terrific trip to Capertee Valley last week.
Murray Lord and I drove out there on Saturday, and didn't see as much
overall, but here are some sightings that may be of interest:
Murray saw one Regent HE at the first recovery programme signpost, which
may be the first of the winter? It flew over, and we couldn't relocate it.
We had only one Swift Parrot, compared to Trevor's 80 or so. We're unlikely
to have missed them, as Murray grew up with them in his garden, so they
must have moved on, at least locally.
Two Barking Owls at Glenolan Road bridge being very vocal.
There was one Olive-backed Oriole, which I presume is quite a late record.
Eight species of raptor, including Grey Goshawk, Little Eagle and Peregrine.
A couple of Black-chinned HEs, but less variety of HEs overall than Trevor.
A Pied Butcherbird - or is this a regular not worth reporting?
Painted Button-Quail - a brief view.
