Thanks to all those who responded: such cynics to believe such a thing could only happen in one place (Lanark)! In fact it was a different property a/c David Geering and I am attempting to make contact with the owner, Alan Reid, president of Gould League. I have spent the last six years researching this topic and have studied birds in plantings dating from 30 to a few years old, but to find someone who has monitored successional processes for such a time-span is a find indeed!
