Reg,
Pittosprum undulatum is widely spread by birds particularly Pied
Currawongs, Silvereyes, Blackbird, and some mammals. There are a
number of good references to this problem, they include;
Stefan Rose (1997) Intergrated management of Pittosporum undulatum
with other environmental weeds in Sydney's urban bushland. Pacific
Conservation Biology 3:350-365.
Robin Buchanan (1989). Pied currawongs (strepera graculina): their
diet and role in weed dispersal in suburban Sydney, NSW. Proceedings
of the Linnaen Society NSW 111 (4): 241-255.
It may well be that there are times of the year that the fruit of P.
undulatum is more palatable than at other times??

Hello all,
Could anyone tell me how the seeds of this tree (P. undulatum) are spread
,. particularly the names of birds which have been actually observed
feeding on them? The only bird that I have seen eating the orange fruit of
P. undulatum was a very young Pied Currawong who forthwith regurgitated
thirteen undigested berries leaving me the impression that they were not
very palatable.
Thank you.
