How do you get a job that takes you to such exotic places?
There is a list of the birds seen by Ian Burrows in July 1987
and it can be found with a few notes in Muruk 2(1): 40-42.
Roy Mackay has added Gurney's Eagle, White-throated Needletail
and Red-rumped swallows to the list. Muruk 6(1): 10.
I have both these if you have trouble finding them.
Brian Coates The Birds of Papua New Guinea Vols 1 & 2 have maps
that show a dot on Lihir (and each other island) id it has been recorded there.
There is no information on the birds of Lihir in the PNGBS newsletters 1-150.
I do not yet have 150-250.
I do know there are two species of swift breeding on a cliff
on the island and if you get there, I woouldn't mind knowing if either
species is breeding at the moment.
Hope this is of some help
