Subject: | birding-aus Honeyeater Migration - Update from Katoomba |

12th April 1999 Today the Yellow-faced Honeyeaters were flying over my street at a rate of between 700 and 2000 an hour, depending on the amount of cloud in the sky. The movement virtually stops whenever the sun goes behind a cloud, which suggests to me that perhaps they rely heavily on the sun for navigation. Today they were also joined by the first small groups of White-naped Honeyeaters. Also on the move were flocks of 20-30 Silvereyes, a few Welcome Swallows, Red Wattlebirds, Noisy Friarbirds and Spotted Pardalotes. Cheers, Carol Carol Probets Katoomba NSW (100km west of Sydney) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
