Lots of Dollarbirds, Rainbow Bee-eaters and Rufous Fantails since mid-March around Kuranda, plus a good passage of Channel-billed Cuckoos, and 2 Square-tailed Kites along Black Mountain Road, Kuranda on March 31. A mystery honeyeater photographed in a Kuranda garden is a Yellow-tufted, well out of known range and very nicely photographed, I just wish I'd seen it! Noisy Pittas have been silent for some time now, and there is not much noise from the Victoria Riflebirds. The big female cassowary is still accompanying the 3 well grown chicks, and they come to Cassowary House most days. The male bird has gone off on his own since cyclone Rona, and we see him several times a week for a brief visit. Happy birding Phil Gregory To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
