Antipathy to raptors, particularly Peregrines, is rife amonst some sections of the pigeon racing community in Australia too. The myth that Peregrines are introduced birds is also subscribed to by some of these people. A large proportion of the Peregrines that are found injured and taken to the Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria have shotgun pellets in them - not that this necessarily implicates pigeon fanciers.
