I thought the Lewin's Rail WAS the "invisible rail"! It is around
here. I've been hearing them regularly for over 12 years in my local
swamp, even brought one up really close with a tape recording. And
I've even had one lay an egg in my bath (really)! But I've never
actually seen the damn thing in the wild! Any tips?

Carol.

PS Oh, in case you're wondering about the bath, when I was a WIRES
volunteer in the 80s I looked after one which had been mauled by
someone's cat. I had set up a makeshift "swamp" with long grass etc
in my bathtub to try and make it feel more comfortable while I was
caring for it. Unfortunately it died, but not before it - or rather,
she - laid an egg.
