Does anyone live in the Mt.Warning area or have knowledge of the thrush on
the mountain?

While climbing Mt. Warning at the weekend we came across a thrush, the
question is was it Russet-tailed or Bassian?

I tried using knowledge gained while walking with more experienced birders,
but I am still confused!! The bird we saw was very near the top and I
estimate was probably between 800-1000m elevation. It did appear to be
Russet coloured but I suppose this can always be deceptive. It appeared to
have no or very faint markings down the tail feathers.

I have a Birds of Wollumbin list compiled by Doug Davidson in which he only
lists White's Thrush - but was that before they were divided into separate
species?

So my ID would have said Russet-tailed but altitude and perhaps Doug's bird
list would say Bassian! Is it possible or likely to get a Russet-tailed
Thrush on Mt.Warning?
Can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers
