Penny (and other interested parties)

I was involved in fauna surveys across a large area of the Wollemi
(north-west of Sydney) in 1996 and 1997 (many areas generally inaccessible
to the public). The Coricudgy - Main Track area was a favourite. The 1997
Hunter Bird Observers Club lists a number of the interesting sightings in
my week camping there. Crescent Honeyeaters were present in the
"hundreds".

Of greatest interest through were the Pilotbirds. This was a range
extension for the species and I encountered them just about everywhere I
went from Coricudgy to Mount Kekeelbone (on the Main Trail) to about Middle
Hill (rough tracks north of Coricudgy). It could well be worth a better
look in areas beyond these points to ascertain the range limits of this
species.
