I'm not sure if this has been raised already on the list ....

One of the members of the Birding-Aus list who occasionally inserts a
bit of common sense into discussions has recently been awarded the
Australian Natural History Medallion for 1998.  I'm sure you'll join
with me in congratulating PETER MENKHORST.  Peter was nominated by VORG
(Victorian Ornithological Research Group), but he is widely known for
his work on general ecology and endangered species in Victoria and more
widely through the region.

Well done - and a more deserving recipient would be hard to find.
