Lorne,

the one calling incessantly was most likely a juvenile. When they're newly
fledged the young constantly call, variations on short peevish whistles
repeated over and over. A pair fledged three young in a nest near my place
about 8 Feb. and the young have been calling almost constantly since then.   

it seems like they might be on the increase around sydney? hope so...
