birding-aus Hi all, The Sooty owls at Eungella have been identified as (Greater) Sooty Owls following 'several minutes (of) excellent views'. See Hobcroft, D. (1997) Aust. Bird Watcher 17 103-104. I have also seen Sooty Owls at Eungella NP (in 1994-5) and agree with Dion Hobcrofts identification although my views were nowhere near as good and identification was based mostly on size (one bird being very large).
