birding-aus Hi everyone, A very unseasonal Wandering Albatross (phase 4) passed Maroubra, Sydney early this morning, no doubt blown up here by the storm and strong southerlies. Also three jaeger species (a single Long-tailed, five Pomarines and lots of Arctics). It could well remain good for a few days on the east coast if this bad weather continues. As a footnote to the Queensland Buller's Shearwaters reported recently, there have been 18 in the past two and a half months off Maroubra. Something would appear to be happening with this species. But then we have been having winds almost constantly from the easterly half. Just waiting for the mega-rarity now.
