For those interested, Toonpan (Lagoon), Serpentine (Lagoon) and Cromarty
(Wetland) area are in the Northern Brigalow belt and lie in a 150km circuit
south of Townsville, NQ 19*19' south, 143* E.  The first two are on private
property; Cromarty adjoins the Ramsar nominated/listed Cape Bowling Green
Bay.  Access to the latter (Reed Beds Road) is currently difficult as the
road is partially under water.

This was the biggest assemblage of lt black corms any of us had seen - they
were feeding in shallow water

possibly a breeding site for the red-backed.....

these were nesting at Serpentine; the closest that we have known it to
Townsville.  Perhaps David James will correct me or confirm that?
