Just fo rthe record, Marleen Acton and I watched ~ 20 meteors, some quite impressive, between 2.45 and 3.30 am this morning; she from her verandah, me from the comfort of my bed which faces east. We are in Townsville, NQ lat 19*19'S, long 146* E. I also saw a large-tailed nightjar over the treetops. For birding-aus subscribers or saBirdnet and birdchat subscribers, it's worth taking a look even if your interests are more avian than astronomical. Cheers Alex Appleman |
