24th Oct. - Peregrine Falcon perched beside the Barron River eating a Fruit Bat 31st Oct. - Great-billed Heron perched on the airport walkway over the Barron River. 3rd Nov. - 2 Pied Herons at the Cairns Airport, 1 Adult and 1 Juvenile. There has also been recent sightings at the Southern Treatment Works in Cairns and at Lake Mitchell on the Mareeba-Mt. Molloy Road. 5th Nov. 2 Broad-billed Sandpipers on Cairns Esplanade, also several Lesser Sandplovers with traces of breeding plumage. 7th Nov. 4 Beach Stone-curlew on Cairns Airfield.
