Leg colour, perhaps particularly with waders, seems variable in many species. I was showing a visitor Grey-tailed Tattlers yesterday and one had orange legs (in my opinion, and that of the visitor). Whilst it was a point of comment it did not seem that remarkable. However, if I saw a Common Sandpiper with orange legs I'd sit up and take a bit of notice.
