Hi all, Birds Australia-North Queensland Group held its annual Crane count on the Atherton Tablelands last Saturday 10th October, about 40 people were dispatched to all known roost sites. All up over 1800 cranes were counted the vast majority were Sarus. Bromfield Swamp was the best site with over 800 and one flock had 250 cranes in it! I'll post the exact figures when they have all been collated. The next activity is the Redden Island survey this coming Sunday (18th) in Cairns. Bye for now Keith & Lindsay Fisher PO Box 2209, Cairns QLD 4870 E-mail: |
