Bob,
We found 2 whitefaces at the old mine site in Thomas & Thomas after
several hours of searching (without use of tapes) on 9 August. One
appeared to be carrying nest building material and despite expectations
were quite approachable (one of our party even photographed them). An
earlier search of the km26 site was unsuccessful. A nice bird - better than I
was expecting.
We regretably didn't make it up to Birdsville, being let down by failure of car
hire company to provide the booked 4WD and our reluctance to take a hire
car (not covered by insurance) further than necessary to see Inland Dotterel
- 15kms N of Marree as it happened.
Best wishes
