Flooding in the Lachlan Valley has seen the arrival of large numbers of
waterbirds. These flocks appear to be following the flood water as it slowly
moves down the valley. Currently the water has reach Euabalong West resulting
flood water backing up into a number of flood plains. Large flocks of Plumed
Tree-ducks and Black Swans are present as well as Hardheads, Pink-eared Ducks
and larger flocks of Straw-necked and White Ibises. Egret species so far has
been Large and Plumed. Flocks of White-necked and White-faced Herons are also
present.
This flood water well end up flowing into the
Booligal wetland complex which should result in Good waterbird
breeding.
All indicators appear to point to a good season coming up for
birds and birdos.
Cheers
