Actually, if I remember properly, most Australian bird names were coined by committee in 1898, or there abouts: not by RAOU in 1926. Wasn't Colonel Legg or something the chairman of the committee? Certainly Charles de Vis was part of the process. It was sponsored and published by the immediate ancestor of ANZAAS, whatever its name was. Glen South Brisbane, Australia |
