Tuesday, warm, sunny, blue sky, no wind. During the morning and into the early afernoon a bird calling repeatedly as it moved around the eucalyptus trees near here at Mt Nebo. A very brief glimpse of it high up, against the light; probably medium sized, gave the impression of fanning its tail (could easily be mistaken about that) when about to land or on landing, but obscured by leaves and branches from then on. Its call was clear and loud. "i i-oh" (as in hot). As it got further away it seemed to be "i oh" or i yoh" with the "yoh" being the louder part. I have it on tape, but very faint as drowned by the nearby bellbirds. Please can anyone suggest what it might have been. Janet Tarbit Mt Nebo Q 4520 |
