One of the oddest sensations I had when I took a weekend of a business trip in Aberdeen and visited the Scottish Highlands, was finding Pied Oystercatchers in the mountain streams and fields. These were invariably joined by gulls. Also a comment of mine made a few weekend birdwatcher's heads turn when I called them Pied Oystercatchers. They only have the one type in the UK, I got a similar reaction after someone spotted siad, "A Kingfisher!" and I asked, "what type?". An experience like that makes you appreciate what you've got back home even more. -- Eric Hocking "A closed mouth gathers no feet" == Melbourne, Australia == http://www.ozemail.com.au/~ehocking |
