There are a couple more locally published books. Off hand I can remember
one:
BIRDS - An Illustrated Field Guide to the Birds of Singapore
by Lim Kim Seng and Dana Gardner
If you should go to Bukit Timah Forest Reserve, there is a Nature Shop,
called Nature's Niche, which stocks many books. You will be able to pick
them up from there.

There is a popular stretch of tracks in the catchment area between
MacRitchie Reservoir and Pierce Reservoir. You can enter this track via the
Adam Road entrance to the Country Club Golf Course (Sime Road) or via the
Country Club Road (from Upper Thomson Road).
There is also the Pulau (meaning island in Malay) Ubin, an island off Changi
Point (very close to the Changi Airport). You can take a bumboat across from
Changi Point jetty (S$1.50) to Pulau Ubin. On this island you can choose to
walk or even ride a mountain bike (S$4 per day). The island has less crowd
during the weekdays but boat crossings are less frequent then.
