Hi Jenny,

The 1997 Directory of Australian Bird Research can be found on Birds
Australia's web site <http://www.vicnet.net.au/~birdsaus>. Once you have
logged into the web site, click on the "Research" icon and then "1997
Directory of Australian Bird Research" icon.

The Directory briefly describes 339 funded bird research projects that were
conducted by 127 researchers/research groups in 1997. It also gives the
contact details (phone, fax & email address) of the principal investigator
of each project.

Indexed hard copies of the Directory will be on sale at the Birds Australia
Shop as part of the Birds Australia Report Series from next week.

There are 3 researchers/groups who are studying the behaviour of magpies:

Dr Jane Hughes, School of Environmental Studies, Griffith University,
Queensland.

Dr Darryl Jones, School of Environmental Studies, Griffith University,
Queensland.

Ian Rowley and Eleanor Russell, Editors of EMU (scientific journal of Birds
Australia), Western Australia.

The contact details for these researchers are found in the Directory.

Kind regards,
Stephen
