Before I moved up to Melbourne to live, I had an excellent raptor site on my doorstep in Geelong. The Fyansford Common is a great spot, probably about 20 hectares of riverbank and open grassy flats, tucked into the suburban edge of Geelong, and whilst I've never had 8 species in one day (things take a bit longer outside the tropics), the quality over time is high. The most in one birding session was 7 raptor species (I think). Wedge-tailed Eagle Little Eagle Whistling Kite Swamp Harrier Spotted Harrier Peregrine Falcon Brown Falcon Australian Hobby Nankeen Kestrel Black-shouldered Kite Grey (White) Goshawk Brown Goshawk Collared Sparrowhawk Barn Owl Southern Boobook Cheers Lawrie Conole 58 Holden Street, Fitzroy North 3068 Victoria, AUSTRALIA Phone AH (03) 9486 4575 Ph Mob (0419) 588 993 Email <> |
