Crested Pigeons are also spreading rapidly in South-East Melbourne. I've heard rumours they originate from a release of birds at Dingley or Braeside about 10 years ago. Can anyone provide more information on their origin ? Also, what ecological impact do they have ? There is some overlap in their feeding with our uncommon Common Bronzewings but I guess they compete mainly with Spotted Turtle Doves and Eastern Rosellas, especially on sown grass and other seeds on golf courses.
