RE: Birdwatching at Melbourne Water's sewage treatment plant in Carrum
An external review of site safety and risks at the Eastern Treatment
Plant in Carrum, Victoria has lead to a change in access arrangement for
bird watchers. In order to allow bird watching at the plant to continue,
bird watchers will be supervised to ensure their safety and eliminate
risks for Melbourne Water.
Melbourne Water need to know when access to the plant for bird watching
will be required during the next 12 months. The final dates are
likely to be approximately once a month and will need to coincide with
national, state and local bird counts which include the plant.
If you are likely to require access to the plant during the next 12
months as part of a bird count, or as part of a regular club activity,
please nominate the dates and times required. Melbourne Water will
publish the agreed dates and times on Birding Oz and in the Birds
Victoria newsletter.
Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be interested in
visiting the plant in the next 12 months.
Submit dates, times and reason for visit (eg, part of a national bird
count, part of club activity, etc.) to:
