Just a comment. The United Kingdom has lots of people interested in birds with nearly 1 million (2% of the population!) being members of the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds). Their quarterly magazine, Birds, has masses of advertisements for birding trips but in my experience (up to 2 years) ago only a few from Australian tourism operators. My hunch is that advertisements by the Federal or State tourism authorities - offering information packs about available bird/wildlife tours - could help considerably in developing the market. (A web site linking to the many operators who have web pages or e-mail addresses might help too). UK residents are still a huge proportion of the visitors to Australia. Hope this helps Michael Norris |
