Petina suggested that I give Jim Reside of Gippsland details of the
colour-banded Little Terns seen in very windy weather at Pelican Pt,
Wyrrabalong National Park on Monday 23/2/98 at 1500 hrs, near Norah
Head, NSW. However I broadcast this to other people because other
banders may be involved. 39 Little Terns present, 7 banded as follows:

1. Right leg a white flag(?), left leg light green band/red band

2. Right leg, dark blue band/red flag

3. Right leg red band/pale blue flag

4. Right leg red band, left leg metal band

5. metal band on right leg only

6. metal band on right leg only

7. metal band on right leg, dark blue band on left leg.

More than half of the birds were in breeding plumage, with yellow bills
and black tips, but on the whole the colour banded birds were mostly
black-billed birds with some yellow. I am sure that I do not have all
the details but the wind was howling and the spray kept getting on the
binocs.
