A Yellow Wag was present at Darwin Sewage Works on 21/2/98. If accepted by BARC it will be an Australian first. The bird is clearly separable from its close relative the Yellow Wagtail by its almost complete lack of a tail, a feature clearly noted. Of interest at the sewage works also was a 'normal' Yellow Wagtail which had a clear broad yellow-buff edge to at least one of the outer primaries. From some angles the feather(s) appeared as bright as the bird's underparts (yellow from upperbreast down; throat greyish-white with a few yellow patches). Whilst the Grey Wagtails haven't been positively sighted in recent weeks, a bird seen in flight outside the sewage works showed the elongated silhouette and bouncing flight suggestive of Grey.
