Ian Sinclair asked about birding around Armidale/Dorrigo/Glen Innes.

The New England National Park, a World Heritage area lies between
Armidale and Dorrigo and offers some good birding and interesting
scenery. Saw Rufous Scubbirds there a couple of years ago. There are
lots of National Parks nearby, including Cathedral Rock. Dorrigo itself
has a magnificent rainforest in the NP there with very good birding. To
the NW of Glen Innes there is Kings Plains NP which has large flocks of
finches, including Plum-headed.
