All cleared up now. The only reference I know on the vexed question of the taxonomy of people interested in birds is "Bill Oddie's Little Black Bird Book" (Eyre Methuen, London, 1980), especially Chapter 2: "What am I? What are you?". Is there anything more up to date ? Apologies for taking up your time and distracting Tony Russell from his important Tolderol campaign. Michael Norris |
