Dear All

I had a guy up the road from my place say to me last night about 8:30pm
that there were 3 very large birds with a 2 metre wingspan and very long
neck and bill being mobbed by Currawongs in the park across my place as
they settled in the trees for roosting. I thought he was exagerating a
bit so I decided to see for myself. It turned out that these large birds
were 3 Pacific (White-necked) Herons which I consider quite unusual for
my park if there is no wetland or creek in the immediate vacinity.

Crested Hawks (Pacific Bazas) at Marayalya now have a rapidly growing
chick. This chick was seen the previous weekend and had complete white
dawn that time. Now it is about a third more larger in size, has brown
wings with traces of barring on chest and a tiny pin crest. (Cute!).

The Painted Snipe are still about at Bushells Lagoon near. Wilberforce
and were observing preening and feeding out in the open. Last night I
heard them make an eerie and unusual crake type call .
