-For the information of the list-
In Victoria (Australia) Bandy Bandys are snakes of the
undisturbed areas of remnant vegetation in the
Wodonga-Beechworth area and in the Sunset Country of the
State.
The reptile has a very specialised diet, feeding entirely
upon 'blind' snakes of the genus Ramphotyphlops. Blind
snakes in turn feed on certain ant and termite species
which occur in undisturbed areas.
Remove the ants/termites or blind snakes and the Bandy
Bandy is in trouble. This is in fact what is happening in
Victoria with cultivation, grazing, timber harvesting and
firewood collection thought to contribute to the decline of
the species in the State.
Readers may know of some native birds which are in a
similiar predicament.
