Thank you Lindsay for your posting of October 1 to Glen Ingram and
to birding-aus.
I have an interest in Albatrosses in as much that I banded a few
at Macquarie I. in 1957 and I was very impressed indeed with the careful
detail you recorded from your shot albatross and overwhelmed with the
number of birds you have handled and meticulously recorded data from over
the years.
I made comment to Glen Ingram about collecting samples for DNA
analysis and Glen made the posting to the net.
I am delighted to see that you have had the foresight to build up
a collection of blood and other samples to complement your morphometric
and feathering studies and as I understand the situation, you are now
enquiring as to with whom you can discuss this phase of your work.
Sitting as I am in a comfortable chair and not wet and cold in a
15' "tinny", may I be allowed to suggest a posting of a summary of this
recent correspondence to ORNITH-L, the list for Professional
Ornithologists, with a cross posting to birding-aus. Regards Mike
