Dear Glen
If this observation is genuine, rather than some artefact of the machine, then
it is
indeed interesting and important. As far as I am aware, Australian nightjars
have
not been recorded using ultrasonic calls.
I have forwarded the message to Batline in the hope that some detector-equipped
battos may be able to gather further information on this possibility. Even
though
nightjars are not bats, if they use ultrasonics, this will be of great interest
to
some bat enthusiasts.
