     Highlights in New South Wales over the last week are as follows:

     SHY ALBATROSS              1 North Head, Sydney 28/8 and 2 there 7/9
     STRIATED HERON             1 Glebe, Sydney 31/8
     GREY GOSHAWK               2 Tuggerah, Central Coast 6/9
     BAILLON'S CRAKE            3 mcGrath's Hill, Windsor 14/9
     LEWIN'S RAIL               2 Cronulla swamp and 1 Cape Solander, Sydney
                                7/9, 1 all week Taronga Zoo - between the
                                giraffes and orangs!
     PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER      several records last week in the Sydney area
     DOUBLE-BANDED PLOVER       1 McGrath's Hill, Windsor 5/9
     SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER     birds currently pouring into NSW with records
                                last week from Botany, Tuggerah, Chittaway,
                                Kurnell, Newington, Dee Why, Mason Park and
                                Windsor swamps
     CURLEW SANDPIPER           widespread arrivals in the Sydney area last week
     RED-NECKED STINT           good numbers reported last week in the Sydney
                                area
     GREAT KNOT                 3 Penrhyn Road, Botany 9/9 and still 2 13/9
     RED KNOT                   2 Penrhyn Road, Botany 13/9 and 1 The Entrance,
                                Central Coast 6/9
     CASPIAN TERN               2 Dee Why Lagoon, Sydney 6/9
     CRESTED TERN               400 Long Reef, Sydney 6/9
     WHITE-FRONTED TERN         1 North Head, Sydney 2/9 and 1 Long Reef 30/8
     SOUTHERN SKUA              1 North Head, Sydney 7/9
     WHITE-HEADED PIGEON        many birds in Central Coast areas of Gosford,
                                Ourimbah and Lisarow and 2 Taronga Zoo 8/9
     TOPKNOT PIGEON             many birds in Central Coast areas of Gosford,
                                Ourimbah and Lisarow
     PALLID CUCKOO              1 Noorangingy Reserve, Doonside (Sydney) 7/9
     KOEL                       1 Summer Hill, Sydney 14/9 - first return
     POWERFUL OWL               2 fledged young Mitchell Park, Cattai 14/9 and 1
                                ad. Epping 14/9
     BARN OWL                   Another found dead Cornwallis Road, Windsor 13/9
