In John l. Young's (Ag Protect Bd of WA) excellent book "Introduced Birds of
the Word"[1981, Reed} S. senegalensis is listed as "introduced from the
South Perth Zoological gardens, Western Australia from 1898 on.  They have
spread rapidly since the 1930's ...>
The book is weel worth seeing if you want more info.
