     Highlights in New South Wales over the last couple of weeks are as follows:


     GIANT PETREL               1 "white phase" Long Reef, Sydney 25/8
     OSPREY                     2 Narabeen Lake, Sydney 27/8
     PACIFIC BAZA               2 Mitchell Park, Cattai 30/8
     SPOTTED HARRIER            up to 3 Cornwallis Road, Windsor regularly
     KING QUAIL                 still 4 Cupitt's Lane, Windsor 2/9
     STUBBLE QUAIL              10 Cupitt's Lane, Windsor 30/8
     LITTLE BUTTON QUAIL        1 Cupitt's Lane, Windsor 31/8
     LEWIN'S RAIL               1 Royal National Park 1/9 and 1 Taronga Zoo 28/8
                                next to the Giraffes!
     BANDED LAPWING             up to 15 currently at Cornwallis Road, Windsor
     DOUBLE-BANDED PLOVER       1 McGrath's Hill, Windsor 22/8
     JAPANESE SNIPE             returned to Mill Ponds, Botany 23/8
     SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER     2 Cornwallis Road, Windsor 6/9 - first return
     GREENSHANK                 1 Bushell's Lagoon, Windsor 31/8
     CASPIAN TERN               2 Narabeen lake, Sydney 28/8
     GLOSSY BLACK COCKATOO      9 Lillypilly, Bega 14/8, 1 Mangrove Mountain
                                10/8, 2 Leura, Blue Mountains 23/8, 1 Mackerel
                                Beach, Sydney 29/8 and 1 (wild bird?) Taronga
                                Zoo, Sydney 7/9
     BARN OWL   3  Cornwallis Road, Windsor 6/9 and 1 found dead there 31/8
     POWERFUL OWL               2 Mitchell Park, Cattai 30/8 and 1 Dural 27/8
     TOPKNOT PIGEON             50 Lady Carrington Drive, Royal Nat. Park 1/9
     WHITE-HEADED PIGEON        2 Lane Cove, Sydney 1/9
     SACRED KINGFISHER          1 Falconbridge, Blue Mountains 16/8
     EASTERN BRISTLEBIRD        "many" Cape St George, Jervis Bay 24/8
     SINGING BUSHLARK           "many" Cupitt's Lane, Windsor currently
     WHITE-THROATED WARBLER     1 Dural 27/8 and 1 Stannix Park, Windsor 30/8
     WHITE-BREASTED WOOD-SWALLOW        returned to Shortlands, Newcastle 11/8
                                        and to The Entrance, Central Coast 8/8

     In addition there are still good numbers of raptors of several species in
     the Windsor turf farm areas; apparently feeding on mice.
