Sad to report that, despite an extensive 8 hour search on Thursday 28th August, the 12 *feral grannies* from Melbourne together with 2 others failed to find Chestnut-breasted Whitefaces at the two designated spots 27 km. from Lyndhurst, South Australia. The entire area was extremely dry. We did manage good views of Thick-billed Grasswrens but little else. Thanks to Frank O'Connor and Cilla Rose for advice, and especially to John Barkla for great mud maps. Better luck third time around! Celia M. Browne, North Balwyn, Vic. |
